

whenever I come across a Jack Snipe now I am transported back to the mire near Karigasniemi where we have listened to displaying birds over the last two summers---it was thus with some degree of distaste that I watched as this male Sparrowhawk dropped over the top of the hide and landed on an unseen vistim which I guessed might have been a Jack---indeed when the Sparv got up I managed a quick shot or two which confirmed my suspicions that a cliddy opp had met its end---Blackbirds and tits somehow seem to have less importance than a Jack Snipe--
