catching the fleeting light of a summer storm is more luck than judgement and being in a good location when it happens is even more down to luck; this was taken on the Wolds near Caistor looking down into the valley to the west as we drove back from Suffolk; 5 minutes sooner or later and we would have missed the shot---
when out early, usually birding, I like to try and capture some of the feel of the day but it is difficult to get images which do justice to the light and ambience of the time; the old chimney in the second shot is one of the relics from the Humber brick and tile industry scattered along the south Humber bank
when I stay out all night with the Nightjars it can be a superb experience as light breaks in the east before sunrise as long as there is some high cloud;
